The Wake Begins
A rōnin was a samurai with no master. He wandered. The word itself, 浪人, means wave-person: a man carried by the water.
We took the name and changed one thing. We picked our master: the boat.
Arizona Ronin Wake is a men’s dragon boat crew built on a simple deal. Twenty paddlers, one drummer, one steer. Nobody gets carried, and nobody gets left behind. We show up, we pull, and we get better together until the boat moves like one body.
United by a shared passion for paddling, competition, and supporting one another on and off the water.
Our first season is already on the water: the Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival, then San Diego, where our 10-man boat took gold in the Open B division over 250 metres.
This site is our logbook: race reports, practice logs, and the faces in the boat. Follow along on Instagram at @azroninwake. If you want a seat, read this.
One Boat. One Brotherhood. One Wake.
